Root Canal Treatment

Sometimes damage or disease can put a tooth in danger by exposing or attacking its pulp, which is the soft tissue at the center of the tooth, and its roots. Infection can be caused by bacteria entering through a cavity in the harder outer layers of enamel and dentin, to then damage the pulp inside. This can cause considerable discomfort or pain. If the pulp dies, the bacteria can multiply and spread further.

Root Canal Treatment

If you experience pain while eating or drinking hot or cold food or beverages, or while biting or chewing, this may be a sign of infection of the pulp or of the roots. Our Metro Smiles dentists can check the situation with your teeth, by using dental X-rays.

Root canal treatment is a fast, comfortable procedure to stop the pain and infection, while it saves your tooth. Like a routine filling, modern root canal (endodontic) treatment lets you start chewing and eating again normally, stops excessive wear or strain on other teeth, and helps your teeth look natural. Often, one or two appointments are enough.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Respons

Here at Metro Smiles, we have always prioritized putting patients and employee well being first. We all share the concerns about the ongoing precautions of COVID-19 and are taking all precautions recommended by ADA, CDC, and Illinois Dental Society to maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff.

Our primary concern has always been the safety of our patients, staff and community. Following the recommendations by the ADA, CDC, Illinois Dental Society and the State of Illinois, we have decided to temporary close our offices to help limit the spread of the virus.

We greatly apologized for any inconvenience caused by this decision.

If you have a dental emergency, please feel free to contact us at 847-331-0901, as our team can help explore options.
